Remote Proctor Exams now a permanent delivery option for the ISTQB® Certified Tester Scheme

2022-05-13

The ISTQB® General Assembly meeting in Dublin on 13th May 2022 voted to permit exam delivery via remote proctor as a permanent option for candidates taking certification exams that are part of the ISTQB® Certified Tester scheme.

ISTQB® fast tracked the introduction of remote proctored exams during the Covid-19 pandemic recognizing the urgent need to support the community. Strict criteria were set for both the remote proctor platforms and the exam providers to ensure the security and integrity of the exams. The ISTQB® Executive closely monitored results and market feedback. Remote proctored exams have become widely accepted across the certification industry and within the ISTQB® ecosystem. The flexibility, convenience, ease of access and use offered by remote proctored exams has been welcomed around the world.

Olivier Denoo, ISTQB® President stated, “The Covid pandemic accelerated change across industries including in the examination and training sector. Remote proctored exams and online/virtual accredited training delivery have made the ISTQB® Certified Tester scheme even more accessible to people around the world. The remote proctor platforms are becoming increasingly sophisticated and include robust security measures and improved user experiences. I am delighted that the General Assembly has agreed to the permanent inclusion of remote proctored exams as a delivery option”.

Sebastian Małyska, ISTQB® MWG chair, commented, “Remote proctored exams have become a “norm” for professional certification schemes. There are technical requirements, of course, most especially a stable quick internet, and anyone taking a remote proctor exam at home should seek to ensure exam conditions can be met - overall we have seen that most candidates can achieve this. Being able to support the certification and career goals of individuals with remote proctored exams has been a significant step forward for ISTQB®

Paper and other online delivery options, including via authorized test centers, are also available to candidates, accredited training providers and organizations who require ISTQB® exams. Please contact your local Member Board or Exam Provider for technical requirements, scheduling details and other information.
