Academia Recognition Program
The ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program recognizes individual lecturers at universities and technical schools who integrate ISTQB® materials into their teaching curriculum.
ISTQB® aims to strengthen its relationship with educators by providing a partnership model that fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and access to software testing education. This program acknowledges the contributions of academic professionals in preparing students for industry-recognized ISTQB® certifications. Unlike the corporate partner program, this initiative is tailored for individual lecturers rather than institutions and currently does not involve any membership fees.

Benefits of joining in the Academia Recognition Program
By participating in the ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program, lecturers gain access to various benefits depending on their badge, including:
- Recognition as an ISTQB® Academia Partner demonstrating commitment to software testing education.
- Program Logo Usage permission to use the ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program Logo in course materials and personal academic profiles.
- Early Access to New Syllabi access to early versions of new ISTQB® syllabi, with the opportunity to contribute to content review.
- Official Website Listing listing as an Academia Recognition Program grantee on the ISTQB® website, showcasing the lecturer’s affiliation.
- Networking Opportunities with other academic professionals and industry experts within the ISTQB® community.
- Special Invitations to ISTQB® events and conferences, such as the ISTQB® Conference Network.
Determining eligibility criteria
To qualify for the ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Academic role be an active lecturer or professor at a university, technical- or high- school.
- Curriculum integration integrate ISTQB® materials (e.g., syllabi, certification topics, test techniques) into course curricula.
- Student certification promotion demonstrate a commitment to promoting ISTQB® certifications to students.
- Proof of affiliation provide proof of activity at an academic institution.
- No certification points required unlike the corporate partner program, there are no certification point requirements for eligibility.
How to apply
Individual lecturers can apply for the ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program by following these steps:
- Complete the application form complete the Academia Recognition Application Form, available on the ISTQB® website or through an ISTQB® Member Board.
- Provide proof of academic activity provide proof of academic activity, such as an official letter from the institution.
- Explain teaching integration describe how ISTQB® materials are incorporated into teaching, including relevant courses and topics covered.
- Submit the application send the completed application to the designated ISTQB® contact point (Member Board or ISTQB® Academia Working Group).
- Receive recognition once approved, the applicant will receive official recognition and the ISTQB® Academia Recognition badge.
Validity, upgrade and premature termination
To qualify for the ISTQB® Academia Recognition Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Validity period the ISTQB® Academia Recognition badge is valid for one year.
- Annual review validity will be checked annually by the Academia Working Group, and an updated application form will be required.
- Notify changes if there are significant changes in teaching scope, the lecturer must inform ISTQB® Academia.
- Free renewal renewal is free of charge, provided the lecturer continues to meet the eligibility criteria.
Use of ISTQB® Academia Recognition badge
As an ISTQB® Academia Recognition, lecturers are granted permission to use the ISTQB® Academia Recognition badge under the following conditions:
- Where it can be displayed the badge may be displayed in lecture materials, personal academic web pages, and conference presentations.
- Use responsibly it must not be used in a way that misrepresents affiliation with ISTQB® or suggests institutional endorsement.
- Misuse consequences any misuse of the logo may result in the revocation of the Academia Recognition status.
Updates to these regulations
Right to update ISTQB® reserves the right to update these regulations as necessary.
Advance notice any changes will be communicated to all Academia Recognition at least three months in advance of enforcement.
